The kiln fired pottery for a century and has sat on the buildings-at-risk register for twenty years. Our scheme repairs it, lights it and makes it the centrepiece of a new yard rather than a fenced-off relic.

The homes are arranged as three terraces around the kiln, stepping from two storeys beside the neighbouring cottages up to four facing the water. Every house fronts either the yard or the harbour walk, so there are no back sides and no dead frontage.

Planning was submitted in spring 2026 with the backing of the harbour trust and the city design panel. Subject to consent, the makers’ studios will be offered first to the potters and boat builders already working on this stretch of the water.
